    Element Friday: Hydrogen

Hydrogen, the first element on the most beautiful table of all, the periodic table of elements. At the beginning of the Universe, also known as the Big Bang, the Universe comprised mostly two elements, one of which was hydrogen. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the Universe. It makes up seventy-three percent of the

  • IsotopesThe star of the movie, aside from the obvious titular character, Oppenheimer, is the use of isotopes. The very much talked about uranium-235.An isotope is a variation of an element with a different number of neutrons. Since an element’s identity and chemical properties lie in the number of protons, adding neutrons changes the mass of

  • Part two, baby!  This is where the magic happens, figuratively, of course. This is science, not magic. Knowing the number of protons in an atom will allow you to identify the element, but it is the glorious electron that allows for bonds and all physical phenomena to occur. I’m talking about electricity, magnetism, chemistry, and

  • Just the Tip of Particle Physics: Quarks

Welcome to lies by omission, brought to you by the little faith in our educational system. You know which kind of lies I’m referring to, those similar to the ones your partner doesn’t tell you, so technically, they aren’t lying? Yep, that’s it. About Me

Hello! i’M mARIEL

I am a marketing executive who tries to insert nerdiness every chance she gets. Previous to this role, I was a chemistry teacher. I can safely say that I have paid my dues to society. Teachers do not get the pay or respect they deserve.
Seeing that I can only insert so much science, history, and literary snippets into my everyday work, I have decided to start this site. A place where I can share what’s new in the aforementioned fields and also share some fundamental information that can be used at your next dinner party.
Please let me know if you had the opportunity to use any of the fun and nerdy information you read here.
For example, by reading the first post, you can intelligently tell people that we are Homosapien Sapiens.
